We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which we live, work, and design. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and recognise the enduring wisdom, knowledge, and care that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have shared with Country for tens of thousands of years.

At the heart of our practice is the belief that landscapes are living systems — shaped by time, ecology, culture, and connection. We are inspired by the responsibility of caring for the places we influence and by the opportunity to contribute positively to their future.

Our design philosophy is grounded in respect for Country. We strive to create gardens and landscapes that work with nature rather than against it, fostering biodiversity, restoring ecological health, and creating meaningful connections between people and place.

In acknowledging Country, we also acknowledge our ongoing responsibility as designers to listen, learn, and leave the land better than we found it.

Distinctive Gardens Design environmental policy focuses on creating sustainable, ecologically sound spaces by integrating nature-based solutions, conserving resources, enhancing biodiversity, managing water, and reducing carbon footprints.  Compliant with government regulations Landscape South Australia Act and adopted by professional bodies Landscape Design Institute to mitigate environmental impacts and support human well-being. Key principles include using native plants, improving soil health, managing stormwater sustainably, promoting energy efficiency with green infrastructure, and planning for climate resilience.
